Adam D. Scioli, DO, DFAPA, DFAOAAM, FASAM, is President Elect of the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine (AOAAM). He is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, and in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. Dr. Scioli’s work centers on the neurobiology of substance use disorders and recovery. His clinical practice is devoted to the assessment and treatment of safety-sensitive professionals, including physicians and pilots with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He is HIMS-qualified by the Federal Aviation Administration. Dr. Scioli is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx and psychiatry residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, where he served as chief resident for two years and was named a Distinguished Laughlin Fellow. He simultaneously completed fellowship training at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, focused on the relationship between addiction and attachment. He formerly served as Chief Medical Officer of a nationally recognized residential treatment center, with responsibility for medical, psychiatric, psychological, and research services across a multi-campus continuum, and as program director of an ACGME-accredited addiction medicine fellowship program. In that role he is internationally recognized as the first physician to formally incorporate GLP-1 receptor agonists into a residential substance use disorder treatment setting, pairing emerging incretin science with comprehensive recovery care. Dr. Scioli is a Chair Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of International Doctors in Alcoholics Anonymous (IDAA).
