Bio
Elise Wessol, DO, is a board-certified family medicine physician with fellowship training in Addiction Medicine from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dr. Wessol is the immediate past-president of the Illinois Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), a state chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). She serves as Treasurer/Secretary of the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine (AOAAM), active in the education and physician wellness committees. She is also a member of ASAM’s Legislative and Public Policy Committee. Additionally, she serves as a faculty member at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Deeply committed to public health and social justice, Dr. Wessol serves on the Illinois Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee for Violent Deaths. Her professional background includes service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at a Healthcare for the Homeless clinic, which has shaped her enduring commitment to advocacy and policy at both the state and federal levels. Her work centers on advancing health equity and improving care for marginalized and underserved populations.
